Thieves- I don't like 'em!

Last Thursday, Richard, Brady and I were loading up our car to head up to Utah for Conference and an interview (info coming soon...). So, as we were making several trips out to the car and back inside, etc., I went out with a final load, including my purse, which I set on top of my car. I'll never stop regretting that. I went back in for Brady, and when we all came back out to get in and go, we heard a car door slam, and saw a small white pick-up peel out of the drive way and down the street. This kid seriously just ran up, snatched my purse, and then drove away, all the while with my dad standing like 30 yards away. Gutsy, right? Unfortunately, we weren't able to even get a license plate number. Richard, my night in shining armor, hopped in our car and sped off to... what? Catch them? Actually, I think he was trying to at least get the plate number, but the car had already turned the corner, and he didn't know which way they had gone. I immediately called the police, but there's really not much they can do but file a report. So, sadly, I am now purseless. The more I think about it, the more it just makes me so mad! Those are my things, not someone else's! Items lost: wallet, credit cards, drivers license, cash, fingerprint clearance card (expensive to get), cell phone, car keys, house key (we had to replace all the locks), school keys, sunglasses, plus other little odds and ends. Grrr! After mulling it over for hours on the long drive to Utah, we decided it's only a purse. We are blessed it wasn't the car, or more money, or WORSE- our sweet boy. Still- it's not cool to steal.

Spring Fever

I LOVE this time of year! Here are a few things that we've been up to this week:

Walks outside with Brady. This is our garden (part of it) In the center of the picture are beets, and to the left are our 2 rows of carrots! I pulled up a pretty good sized carrot yesterday-almost store sized! I ate it right then. (Of course, I shared with Brady-he sucked, I took bites)

These are both from my Uncle Curtis' yard- right next door. The trees are all in bloom! I looked out the window, and what did I see?

We have a garden!!!!!

So, back in November, Richard and I decided we wanted to plant a garden. Neither of us have ever really gardened before. Nevertheless, we set out to buy some seeds, according to our planting guide given to us by a neighbor. We spent the better part of a day planting swiss chard (eww), cabbage, lettuce, brussell sprouts, spinach, broccoli, cauliflower, green onions, carrots, beets, and radishes. Of all of these, we have eaten chard (again...eww), lettuce, carrots, and radishes. The spinach is eatable, but we haven't used it yet, the beets are still growing (we hope), and the carrots are now all thinned out, so they are still growing, too. The ones we picked to thin them out are delicious but small! We have plowed the brussell sprouts, cauliflower, broccoli, green onions, and cabbage under. Sad, I know. But overall, a pretty good harvest for first timers, I think! I will post pictures another time. For a while there, I was dreaming about pulling weeds because that's what I would do after work or on Saturdays. All worth it in the end! So successful, in fact, that we are going to try again in a couple weeks with new seeds!

Actually, this picture was from Richard's sister Kayla's wedding day. It was a great day just before Christmas, and we are so happy to have Jacob officially in the family.

I'm sorry that all my posts end up being giant overviews. I will try harder to just report one event at a time in the future!

Christmas was great, with Valora and Eric and their family here. Marilla and Casey came the day after Christmas (when Valora left) and stayed for another week. We did all the family activities twice: Organ Stop Pizza, the carousel at the mall, slides, etc. It was so great to have them here and to see how their kids have grown. Brady did kinda like the wrapping paper on Christmas. Other than that, same-old same-old for him. The day after Christmas, however, he embarked on a new adventure... rice cereal! He LOVES it. Actually, he LOVES food in general. He gets all out of sorts when anyone is eating anything around him if they don't share. He got 2 little chompers on the bottom front just before Christmas, and he loves showing them off as well. What a sweet boy he is! We are so blessed to have such a happy-go-lucky, go-with-the-flow kind of baby.

Brady's 4 month stats:

15 lbs. 10 oz.

25 3/4 in.

Basically, he's growing like a weed! The picture above is typical of our little tyke- the kid's a drooler and a bubble blower. He has a bib on most of the time simply to soak up the drool. Actually, a bib is one of his favorite things to suck on. Since everything he can get ahold of goes straight to his mouth, it's convenient that he likes his bibs so much!

His latest trick: Brady has discovered his higher vocal ranges. He used to be a growler, and he LOVED it when you growled back. But as of yesterday, he is now a squeeler. The higher the better, as far as he's concerned. He has rolled both directions, but I can't call it a trick yet, as I think it's usually an accident! We love Brady to pieces, and are having so much fun watching him grow and learn new things every day!
